North Cardinal Choir
The North Cardinal Choir is made up of 4th and 5th grade students who audition to join. Auditions are held at the beginning of the year. New students are also given the opportunity to audition throughout the year; however, students are not allowed to join with less than a month before a performance. The mission of the music program is to give students the opportunity to develop a foundation in music. The music program will also create a healthy and safe atmosphere in which students will be encouraged and mentored to further boost their vocal ability. With these concepts in mind, the point of the program is not to perform concerts for the masses, but to develop musicianship in each of the students involved. Our talented choir performs throughout the school year.
Our Safety Patrol is made up of 5th grade students. They assist in keeping our hallways safe and orderly in the mornings as students travel to class and breakfast.
Helping Hands is a group of 3rd-5th grade students that are selected by classroom teachers. These are students who demonstrate responsibility and caring for others. Each year, they sponsor school and community oriented service projects such as our Annual Coat Drive for the needy, Pennies for Patients which raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Toiletries Drive for a local nursing home, and the Prince George Animal Shelter Drive. Please be on the look out for ways you can help to support these causes!
North's Green Team is a dedicated group of students who collect paper that classes have recycled each day. This recycling is collected by SP Recycling. In return, North Elementary gets a small amount of money that is used for a variety of activities.
Bookstore Helpers are a group of students who sell school supplies here at North.
Our morning announcers are nominated by their teacher for this important job. Each morning, they begin our school day by giving us the weather forecast, leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance, the Star Spangled Banner and our Moment of Silence.
Good News Club
The North Good News Club meets on Wednesday mornings at 7:30 a.m. in the gym. It is a free, exciting, fun-filled hour once a week that students can attend, if so desired. Students learn about respect for authority, character qualities, moral values, and Biblical principles. Specially trained and screened individuals work with the students. The Good News Club is sponsored by Unity Baptist along with the Child Evangelism Fellowship of Greater Richmond. Be on the lookout for sign-up information!
